New vegans or visitors to Oxford could be forgiven for thinking at first that our beautiful city doesn’t have much to offer for those who eat plant-based foods. Many cities in the UK have fully vegan restaurants, whereas the most Oxford offers is a vegetarian pub, The Gardeners Arms, and café, The Magic Café.
Pizza Express are one of a handful of chain restaurants that offer a massive 40% off on Mondays and Tuesdays for students, making it a really fantastic deal (I think my three courses and a drink came to just over a tenner). If you don’t have a student card, they usually have set menu offers on their website for only a couple of pounds more, that are valid every day of the week.
The Magic Cafe, next door to Wild Honey, another place Oxford vegans probably know quite well, has an approachable and laid back interior. It very much looks like you’re being welcomed into someone’s living room.
