Despite an epic fail on Frankie and Benny’s part the last time I visited in Oxford, we decided to give them a second chance. I’d noticed their menu was flaunting a hugely expanded range of vegan options, which all sounded pretty promising to a vegan junk food fiend, so was hoping that this time our experience would turn out to be better.
After visiting The Coconut Tree soon after it opened in Oxford, it went straight to the top of the list of places I wouldn’t hesitate to visit again, or recommend to friends. Offering up fiery, authentic Sri Lankan street food style dishes, I counted up 17 labelled vegan options (yes, you read that right) on their current main menu…
I think of Indian cuisine as being generally quite veggie-friendly and I was happy to look at the menu online and see a long list of things I could order from (which always presents problems though as I’m notoriously bad at making decisions)!
This week I had the opportunity to visit Quod on High Street for a meal with colleagues. Quod change their menu seasonally, and due to the dining situation, I called in advance to double check they’d have something vegan on the menu to avoid any awkwardness.
