Review: Frankie & Benny’s

Despite an epic fail on Frankie and Benny’s part the last time I visited in Oxford, we decided to give them a second chance. I’d noticed their menu was flaunting a hugely expanded range of vegan options, which all sounded pretty promising to a vegan junk food fiend, so was hoping that this time our experience would turn out to be better.

Review: The Coconut Tree

A glance at the menu of recently-opened The Coconut Tree on St. Clements suggests it’s a relative haven for vegans. With no less than 16 vegan dishes, visiting was one of those rare occasions a vegan finds themselves in the position of having too much choice.

Beyond Veganuary: Make-up and Toiletries

To the majority of non-vegans, it is easy to get confused between vegan, and ‘plant-based’. While even just cutting out animal products from your diet does have an impact of the suffering of animals and damage to the environment, many people may not realise that the exploitation carries through into so many other aspects of our modern lives, and you’re missing the point of veganism if you’re still actively participating in that.

In the hopes of helping anyone who is new to veganism, interested in cooking more plant-based foods, or just plain curious about what on earth we eat, I thought I’d share a series of tips on issues around vegan living.

Review: Rola Wala

Rola Wala has firmly replaced Leon as my go-to great value healthy ‘fast food’ option in town. With more than half of the food on offer being vegan, they serve up rolls and bowls packed with nutrients, and as I discovered, more importantly with flavour.
