With limited edition Christmas drinks and lunch options now a staple in supermarkets and coffee shops over the holiday period, I explore which places have been offering a vegan option in 2017. Look out for these over the next couple of weeks if you’re doing some last minute Christmas shopping or braving the boxing day sales.
I decided on the Mac Daddy, a fried chicken-style seitan burger, topped with mac ’n’ cheese, in a bun with salad, with fries on the side. The seitan burger was perfectly crispy on the outside and the texture was pretty accurate to what you expect from a chicken burger. The seasoning was spot on too, so you’re left with something quite realistic.
Rola Wala has firmly replaced Leon as my go-to great value healthy ‘fast food’ option in town. With more than half of the food on offer being vegan, they serve up rolls and bowls packed with nutrients, and as I discovered, more importantly with flavour.
